About Us...Club Objectives
The Greater Victoria Aquatics Society (GVAS) is a non-profit, competitive swimming organization providing training and competition for residents of the West Shore.
The program is designed by a professional coaching staff interested in developing successful people as well as successful swimmers. With this in mind, the following team objectives have been established:
- To provide affordable competitive swimming as well as opportunities for personal growth, both physically and emotionally;
- To encourage self expression and inventiveness while learning the value of routine, dedication and the organization of personal time;
- To promote high self-esteem, the value of hard work and the importance of good sportsmanship in order to deal with success and frustration with equal grace;
- To provide the best possible instruction and training, in order to develop the best competitive environment for each swimmer;
- To motivate young people to achieve the most from their efforts and to follow through on commitments made to coaches, teammates and themselves to be "the best that they can be."
